Review:

Myth: 2/5

Sunday sees the dead, oh and some creepy crawlies from the Other World too. They tend to show up when she doesn’t want them causing lots of fun property damage. When she meets others with the Sight, her world is turned upside down. While Sunday had a lot to deal with, she always seemed to say “no” first. When it came to any of the new characters or learning about others with the Sight, she always declined, but then pretty immediately (normally the next day) changed her mind. Instead of hesitation, it ended up making her character seem really indecisive.

No romantic subplot, but for a character who is on her own at the beginning of the story, it’s nice to see her figure out how to trust people.

Magic: 2/5

The magic is the concept of the Sight. Some people have it and others don’t. While the Sight allows people to see beings and creatures from the Other World, that seems to be it. Some of the characters do use it as a bit of a ghostbuster type sense, where they remove beings from the Other World or help them pass on when they’re poltergeist-like.

Overall: 2/5

An interesting urban fantasy adventure, spanning lots of the western United States. I liked Sunday’s inner struggles with anxiety, but overall had a hard time getting invested in the characters.
