Goodreads synopsis

Review:

Myth: 4/5

After the deadly developments at the end of book 3, Cas and her friends are clear to take the highest throne in the Kethran Empire. Book four is about adjustment to these responsibilities. There is a slow build throughout in Cas’s exploration of her past, especially since its front and center as she finds herself in the Kethran palace.

Magic: 4/5

Cas has to figure out what her brother is up to, especially with his new role. He may be blood family, but does that mean anything is left between them?

Meanwhile, Cas and Elander have new powers to test and more danger to hurl themselves into.

Overall: 4/5

This was the “slowest” book so far, with lots of the plot focused on Cas adjusting to being queen, and rallying allies for the final battle. But the slow build was worth it in the end as the explorations of the past lead to a better understanding of the present, and what must be done to finish things.
