A little detour into the past to learn how Rue’s parents meet. Much has been alluded to the pairing of a white witch and a black witch and this gives us insight into who her parents were and how they came to be a couple.

Not a whole lot new is revealed, magicwise. But you do see a bit more of the inner workings of Black Hat pre-Rue.
Overall 4/5
Definitely worth a quick read as you’re waiting for the next installment. A great addition to the world building.
