Goodreads synopsis

Review:

Myth: 5/5

This book takes place in the same world, but multiple generations after The Night House. I love how J.C. McKenzie has done this with some of her series. They’re still standalone fantasy romances, you get a new couple each time, but you still get to build and play in the magical world you were already familiar with.

Thea, a scout and direct descendant of the Night House is fierce and strong, she’s on her own mission when she’s swooped up by Aries of House of Chaos and a forced bargain is struck. Their chemistry is a delight as they work through their current secrets and passed missed opportunities while on a dangerous journey that could leave them stranded.

Magic: 4/5

Thea and Aries are both magic wielders, direct descendants from old Arkavian lines. If you find yourself interested in the history, checkout Night House, though it’s not required to read this book. While I love Thea’s defensive magic, I can’t get enough of her going feral with her knives, buckle up for those rides.

Overall: 4.5/5

I loved this one even more than Night House, Thea and Aries were spectacular characters, making plenty of mistakes on their road to realizing what they could have with each other.
