Review:

Myth: 4/5

I’ll admit that I wasn’t sure what to expect with The Night House, but I’ll officially read anything written by J.C. McKenzie and I’m sure to enjoy it.

The Night House is a little post-apocalyptic urban fantasy and maybe a little scifi? Though I’ll admit the alien realm reads much more like portal fantasy than science fiction. Either way, Taya kicks butt and her and Lord Thane’s inopportune chemistry is a delight.

Magic: 4/5

Starting off with the end of the world and moving onto an alien race, The Night House has no end of the supernatural. The Arkavian’s magic is a little underdeveloped but the information given worked to tell Thane and Taya’s story.

Overall: 4/5

Looking for a great standalone fantasy? Look no further than this completely unique story with a strong heroine blend of the alien and urban fantasy elements.
