Another story set in the modern city of Olympus, this installment featuring Psyche and Eros. I am in love with the world of Dark Olympus. The 13 names of the gods you know from Greek mythology are titles passed between different humans that represent the ultimate power in the city. They rule the city with similarities to the gods and goddesses that they represent. The politics are messy, the love lives messier and the chemistry to die for.
You get a should be enemies-to-lovers, but its more subtle than that. You also get a situationally forced marriage. Psyche is to die for. She’s got drive, she’s got intellect and she’s a planner, she’s the one coming up with the strategies and political maneuvering. She’s a plus size woman with a healthy self-esteem, though she admits she worked hard for it, especially in the dangerous world that is Olympus.
Magic: NA
Though using Greek gods and goddess names as characters and with varying plays on their political sway or ‘power’ in society. This is a modern retelling, no magic to speak of, but it’s not needed to play with the characters of Olympus, the political power struggles are more than enough.
Overall: 5/5
A steamy play on the Psyche and Eros story. While this isn’t a monster romance in physical traits, Eros has all the charms of a monster romance in his history and actions. I was a sucker for Psyche’s strength and kindness and how it turned Eros to some kind of feral animal ready to defend her at every turn.
“I don’t care if she deserves someone just as sweet as she is. I want her chained to me, and I’ll rip out the throat of anyone who thinks they can take her away.”
Thankfully, she’s here for his nonsense too.
