Review:

Myth: 4/5

The Demon Tide took Elloren’s story to a truly epic level. This has always been a series with a strong cast of characters, but The Demon Tide shows off so many perspectives and so many unique stories in the merging of the east and the west on the verge of war. As a fun twist for all those fantasy romance fans, so many stories are told through sweet yet tantalizing romances leading up to a purple moon festival for lovers.

Laurie Forest really nailed the vibes and language in the book. So much purple, so many crashing tides, I really felt like I was riding the wave along with all the characters.

I did not do a reread of the previous books before jumping into this and while there were a lot of characters that I was a little fuzzy on, the narration and story telling was such that with each new character, any blanks were immediately filled in.

Magic: 4/5

I loved and hated the magic in this book. Elloren’s magic is so connected to the important relationships in her life, that it’s always an emotional roller coaster. A lot of the magic is internal battles of will and I find those so powerfully done.

Overall: 4/5

The story wove in so many new threads while keeping us on the edge of our seats to see what happens with Elloren’s fated prophecy and her relationship emotional turmoil. It was such a beautiful build up in this book, showing off so many relationships, the love that the rebels are fighting so hard to preserve.
