Review:
Myth: 3/5
Jack’s story jumps right into the action, setting her on a course she would have liked to avoid. Jack and Roman’s history is given through the story in form of well timed flashbacks, revealing the information in a scene just when you wanted it.
The baggage between them from one of Jack’s prior cases only adds to the distrust they have built in their current predicament. It’s a big question of can they trust each other enough to get through Jack’s current problem?
Magic: 3/5
An introduction to the magical world and peoples of Houston. Harlan’s world imagines all the political baggage associated with supernaturals living among powerless humans. This definitely had x-men like political vibes with terrifying testing facilities, unequal rights and general fear of the unknown handled through law.
Overall: 3/5
Jack was definitely the brash results over rules PI and Roman the mysterious, morally grey supernatural, some of my favorite types but I had a hard time connecting with the characters. But all in all it was a fun ride through Houston’s supernatural world.
