Favorite Love Interests

Favorite Love Interests

A real problem for me when thinking about this list is that every single one of my favorite love interests is the same character. Apparently, I have a type. You’ll see for yourself, but I’ve called in Katie to make the list a little more well rounded. Otherwise you would see 5 varying representations of the misunderstood and self tormented lord of the underworld/darkness/nightmares.

1. Allow me to be basic for a moment and just start with Rhysand. He was one of the first male romantic leads that I can remember that just wanted to support Feyre’s choices. He wants to give her a safe space to figure out who she is and what she wants. He is wicked in all the right ways and the most powerful high lord in memory. Thank you SJM for A Court of Mist and Fury.

2. Do we have any Shiro fans out there? Can the mischievous and cunning kitsune be trusted? I’m not sure after the first Red Winter book (Katie knows and won’t tell me) but I’m dying to find out. Shiro is Katie’s top pick.

3. Wrath is so sneaky, he and Emilia have a super fierce enemies to lovers vibe going on in Kingdom of the Cursed. Lots of other spoiler plot points ensue, but he’s powerful and wrathful in dispensing justice and he is also all about getting Emilia to make her own decisions (even if he has to manipulate a situation to force her to make a decision, I know, I know).

4. How about Trent Kalamack? Trent is from the long line of love interests who at one point imprisoned the main character, rat in a cage anyone? but somehow makes his way into redeemed romantic lead. I completely fell for it. We don’t have all the Hollows books reviewed on the site, but Pale Demon is probably one of my favorites, so much forced proximity time with Rachel and Trent.

5. My favorite type comes to life in the fury, Nausicaä. “If there was anything Nausicaä had learned in the past 116 years on Earth - and the last 300 she’d been alive - it was that revenge was not a cure for pain, but exacting it did make her smile.” Though the A Dark and Hollow Star is just the first in the series. It is just getting started and Nausicaä definitely has a soft spot for Arlo, the sunshine to her grump, and I can’t wait to see where the story takes us.
