Review:

Myth: 4/5

After leaving us in relationship hell at the end of book 1, we get a shot at redemption in book 2 of the series. At the end of book 1, Cat makes a choice, she cuts Bones out of his life, allegedly, for his own safety. This may be true, and she had to bear the pain of leaving him, but it also allowed her to ignore some deep seated issues she was dealing with due to her upbringing regarding vampires.

In book 2, Bones and Cat are reunited after four years. Cat has a new job working for a government agency leading hits against vampires. She likes her job, her team (and she’s good at it), but when Bones catches up with her she has to confront her choice and some of those repressed feelings.

Cat, as a government ‘vampire slayer,’ also finds herself with a hit against her (go figure). Queue lots of action and adventure as she and her new team complete their missions and try to figure out who is out to get Cat and get them first.

Magic: 4/5

The government agency is interested in studying the powers that they fear. We get historical learnings (since they’ve been gathering intel for a while). We also get boosts of understanding as Cat continues to challenge herself in her new gig.

Overall: 4/5

Book 2 doesn’t disappoint. We kick it up a notch on the romance and the action.
