Goodreads synopsis

Book four in the Night Prince series continues to follow the character Vlad from Frost’s Night Huntress and his new wife Leila. We’ve watched them find each other, fall in love, and face down a chain of bad guys. In the final book in this series, they are trying to catch Vlad’s step-son/nephew (I know, vampires, am I right?) who is a powerful necromancer.

Myth: 4/5

I enjoyed this book most out of the series. That had a lot to do with more of Leila’s back story. I really like when the female lead to have a power to rival or equal her counterpart, and that is really tough with Vlad. We’ve seen Leila figuring out new tricks to her power over the series, but never quite understanding it. I’m glad that changes!

Magic: 4/5

I’m a sucker for a good origin of magic story and I quite enjoyed the emergence of demons into the later Night Huntress novels. It seems like that will be a bigger theme in the Night Rebel novels (which I’m looking forward to starting next). As I’ve said, I liked the introduction of magic/necromancy in the third book, and was happy to see that as the ‘big bad’ that we faced in the final story.

Overall: 4/5

Lovely conclusion to the series. I thought that Leila was more complete with a bit more history. I also loved setting Ian and Veritas up for the next series in the Night Huntress world.
