Review:

The Night Rebel series follows the Law Guardian, Veritas and her journey with everyone’s favorite bad boy, Ian, as they hunt down a deadly demon. This follows the events from the Night Prince series.

Myth: 4/5

The first book leaves us devastated as Veritas and Ian come so close to their goal. Veritas does what she has to do to give Ian a second chance, but the cost was steep and has her running from him, allegedly after the other souls she released.

It doesn’t take Ian long to catch up. And of course, no matter how much Veritas protests that she’s protecting him, Ian always seems to jump in head first.

At the end of book one, Ian has lost his memories. And though that does appear to be the case, it's nowhere as severe as Veritas was led to believe. My favorite part of this book is guessing what Ian actually remembers and what he’s guessing. Because, of course, our favorite scoundrel wouldn’t just tell Veritas everything he remembers.

Magic: 4/5

Veritas’s fight with herself is the best part of this book. She’s a badass with a demigod underneath. She has to find a way to reconcile herself with her power, even if she was raised to be afraid of the power she could unleash.

Overall: 4/5

After everything we’ve seen of Ian in the Night Huntress world, it’s delightful to see him as Veritas does.
