Review:

Myth: 3/5

I’m very unsure of how I feel about this series. The urban fantasy world of Chicago filled with vampires, shifters, sorcerers and more has everything I love; supernatural politics, battles and more. I also acknowledge, as a reader, that I usually delight in the romantic tension that would be between the lead characters. But I think it was strung out too far with Ethan and Merit. This installment adds yet another terrible decision to Ethan’s list, which makes me want to throw the book across the room, but also just tell Merit to forget it, and find a new vampire. I’m more excited at this point to see Ethan and Merit as a united team without any relationship drama, but that seems a little too elusive in these books.

Magic: 4/5

I’m always for adding angles and demons into the mix of magical beings, so I enjoyed most of the magical battles in this story. I don’t love Mallory’s storyline, I find myself unsure of what to do with it, I guess like most of the characters, it continues to strike me as too convenient.

Overall: 3.5/5

I find myself swinging back and forth still between wanting to keep going and not on this series. At this point, I think I’m into the magical politics side of things enough that I’ll keep going, the world is cool, but the characters aren’t always my favorite.
