Review:

Myth: 4/5

Vampires of Chicago…I really don’t think the review needs more than that, but I’ll give it to you anyway. Merit is just minding her own business when attacked by a vampire, changed by another and then thrust into the political house world of Chicago vampires. The old world feel of the houses has that feudal system, complete devotion to the master vampire. Ethan Sullivan, the vampire that ultimately turned Merit, even if it was to save her life. He should be her mortal enemy, but that darn sexual tension just sizzles between them whether they want it to or not.

This is the first in quite a long series, so it was mostly about introducing Merit and us to the supernatural underworld of Chicago. Even if vampires are out to the general public, that doesn’t mean that others are, and that doesn’t mean that all is well and happy between humans and the supernatural population. Their cooperation balances on a knife’s edge, and Merit is set up to be in the middle of all of it.

Magic: 3.5/5

If vampires being known to the human world wasn’t enough, Some Girls Bite also introduces us to a whole host of other, still hidden supernatural races. This is setup to be an urban fantasy with plenty of supernatural politics.

Overall: 4/5

I’m hooked on Merit, I’m here for the drawn out sexual tension between her and her new liege, and I can’t wait to see what is up next for the vampires of Chicago.
