The supernatural drama never ceases for Cadogan House vampires, after solving another supernatural crisis in the last book, Chicago’s mayor has decided she wants to use Ethan to send a message regarding her stance on supernaturals. As Ethan and Merit head to shifter territory to hide for a minute and plan their next move, trouble follows them. If tensions between humans and vampires are at an all time high, so are tensions between each faction of the supernatural community. It’s never just one problem to solve for the Chicagoland Vampires, and this story keeps Merit on her toes until the end.
The best part? She’s got her partner in crime and liege when convenient, Ethan Sullivan to help. I love seeing them as a united front as they take on a whole mountain of problems.

I really like whenever Gabe, the pack leader is around, and this book gets a lot of him, his mysterious prophesies and no-nonsense approach to those around him are a delight.
This book also brings back a character that I have to admit was too interesting to let go, so I was pleasantly surprised to see he’ll be back in the Chicagoland picture.

I’m pretty happy at this point. It’s been two solid stories in a row where Merit and Ethan have more than their fair share of human, supernatural and vampire politics thrown at them, but work to find a way through as a united front.
