Magic Shifts (Kate Daniels #8) by Ilona Andrews

Myth: 4.5/5
It’s definitely an adjustment for Kate, Curran and their relationship, but this book finally delivered on the two getting to be a cohesive unit. A lot of the conflict or dramatic builds in previous installments came from Kate and Curran being separated, or unable to work together for whatever reason, but Magic Shifts finally shows them off as a united front from start to finish. They still worry about each other’s decisions and safety, but they also rely on each other’s strengths to get the job done.
Magic: 4/5
With everything going wrong at once it’s hard to take a step back to try and connect the dots. Kate has to piece together information from an onslaught of enemies and magical battles. Oh, and hold your breath for one delightful family dinner at your friendly neighborhood Applebees.
Overall: 4.5/5
It was great to see Kate and Curran outside of the Pack. This book had the most laugh out loud moments of any in the series yet. The character interactions both new and old are so entertaining with quick wit, and deep found family love.
