The Kate Daniels world has so many short stories and novellas to dive into. I had to pick and choose the characters and stories I loved most. I am about to start reading Blood Heir, so I thought that a Derek/Julie story would be perfect to get me back into their vibe, and it was.
Though this book is “Derek’s” it’s inherently Derek and Julie teaming up to make sure no one who does bad deeds in Atlanta gets away with it.
Magic: 4/5
Again, though it was Derek’s story and there was plenty of his inherent struggle with going Lupe, I was drawn to Julie and the magic she was intent on learning, no matter the risk.
Overall: 4/5
The perfect pair for the next generation in the Kate Daniels world, I really can’t wait for more.
