Goodreads synopsis

Myth: 3/5

Three Mages and a Margarita is our introduction to the Guild world. Tori is trying to find her way in a new city, juggling college classes and a job. She seems to have a hard time holding on to a job due to her temper. Though this was used to move the plot forward, and helped her make her way in the Guild world, it was a weird plot point. Plenty of people have tempers, but that doesn’t usually result in physical confrontations with restaurant patrons.

Once Tori made her way into the Crow and Hammer the plot moved forward more seamlessly. The Guild characters were a colorful cast. Tori’s three mages were delightful and provided just the right amount of “who will she pick,” in the midst of some kick ass fighting.

Magic: 3/5

We received only a brief tutorial alongside Tori about how the Guilds and MPD (or magical interpol) work. She also received a brief introduction to the classes of magic and magical creatures in the Guild world.

Overall: 3/5

It was a good start, I’ll definitely read the next book in the series to see what happens next. I’d really like to hope that Tori’s unnatural temper manifests itself as something more.
