Myth
Katie Review: 3.5/5
On our third series of interconnected action in The Guild Codex universe, I am finally starting to get a little confused. Kit Morris is confronting demon guilds in new situations than Tori and Robin, but they’re meeting with the same characters and changing the same bad guys. In addition, there are new bad guys who seem to be targeting Kit’s partner, Lienna Shen. He’s got to figure out who’s targeting who and why… and the reader’s got to keep up with him.
Jill Review: 3.5/5
I do like Kit, he’s charming as he tries to navigate his new job in magical law enforcement. As a unique magic user and ex-conman, he brings a unique perspective to the team. His chemistry with is partner Lienna will make for a torturous slow-burn romance, at which Annette Marie excels.
Magic
Katie Review: 4/5
At the end of the last book, Kit figured out he potentially has the power to warp reality… not that it works on demand or comes in handy during any of the recent attacks he’s a part of. Instead, he feels more useless despite his creative attempts at using his powers, while his highly magic-powered partner bears the brunt of the attacks. Can Kit figure out his magic and skills in time to help Lienna and save himself… and can he even pass his agent field test?
Jill Review: 4/5
I second Katie’s review!
Overall
Katie Review: 3.5/5
I’m looking forward to the next book, where we see the agents investigating the ruined remains of the Crystal Druid’s farm… of course, they don’t know what they’re looking at, but the trail leading them to our favorite heroines is getting warmer.
Jill Review: 3.5/5
I will definitely keep reading, no one can keep me away from the Crystal Druid. Book two was a quick, fun read that throws us back into the demonica guilds and tries to show a little of the MPD trying to piece together some of the chaos we saw from Robin’s perspective in Demonized, but honestly, it’s just a little more fun to see it from the Guild’s perspective instead of magical enforcement.
