The Alchemist and an Amaretto (The Guild Codex: Spellbound #5) by Annette Marie

Myth:4/5
It’s Christmas time, and that means Tori and the boys are headed to spend the holidays at the Sinclair….castle? In this book we get to see where Aaron comes from. The team visits the academy and Tori sees first hand how much Aaron struggles between making his own choices and making his family happy.
There is also the required holiday party mistletoe scene that’s worth waiting for.
Magic:4/5
Tori and the boys have some new challenges in this book, namely alchemically powered werewolves. Though this investigation is the focus of this particular book, the demon subplot sort of steals the show. Ezra’s demon is developing more and more power, and by reading this after Taming Demon’s for Beginners, it’s even more interesting to see how Tori interacts with him. I see an intersection of stories coming soon.
Overall:4/5
One step forward and two steps back for romantic subplots, but what else would we expect. I really like how each book seems to have a focus on one of the group’s backstories.
