Agent Soze of Internal Affairs has taken over the MPD, instructing the agency to obliterate the Crow & Hammer guild. With Captain Blythe out of commission, Kit and Lienna will have to use their wits and skill to take down Soze and save the guild from inside the MPD.

Soze is everything I hate about in a villain - uncompromising, smart, extreme, just plain evil… which I guess makes him a good villain. He’s been shackled, but not defeated by the end of this novella, which sets us up perfectly for book 4 of the series, making me glad I didn’t skip this one!

Magic 3/5

Kit has really come into his own by now - dropping invisibombs and fun house warps left and right! It’s fun to see him finally starting to take his own power seriously, which still battling bad guys that manage to find his weaknesses.

I wish I understood more about Lienna’s special brand after magic. After my 4th series in this world, I would expect to have a firmer grasp on how the magic works, but whenever it comes to her it’s all fuzzy. I like no plot holes in the world building, so this still bothers me.
