Goodreads Synopsis

Myth: 3/5

Robin is determined to find her mom’s grimoire. She’s determined to learn what her uncle has hid from her about her parents. And she wants to know if her demon is capable of empathy?

The second book in the demonized series develops Robin and Zylas’s relationship as they try to work together as well as seek to understand each other. Robin wants to hold out hope (like all of us) that Zylas isn’t evil. That he has the capacity to care about others with no benefit to himself. They’re relationship develops as they hunt down strangely capable vampires in an attempt to find Claude and her Uncle, ultimately trying to get their hands on the grimoire. The item that will accomplish both of their goals.

Magic: 3.5/5

As Robin and Zylas’s relationship develops we also see their magic develop, together. Demon and Arcana magic aren’t so different. And when they don’t think too hard about how it shouldn’t work, it kind of starts to work, just like the two of them together. I really enjoyed this. I can’t wait until Robin can further level the playing field by figuring out how to hear Zylas’s thoughts on a regular basis..

Overall: 3/5

We got an initial tease in this book about how Robin’s investigations will overlap with Ezra’s and likely the secret investigation that Tori is about to start (from the end of The Alchemist and an Amaretto). It’ll be fun to see the stories further intertwine.
